Moody Blue Kitchen Remodel

This kitchen remodel in Burlington, VT began by opening the wall between the kitchen and living room, taking it down to bar height rather than removing it completely. The sink now faces out toward the living room, and the new bar-height counter keeps the everyday mess of cooking out of view while keeping the whole downstairs connected. The change also brought in a lot more natural light.

Cabico Unique's cabinetry in Blue Fir gives the room its deep, moody color. Wall cabinets were kept to a minimum on purpose, letting white subway tile run all the way up to the ceiling and carry the light and brightness through the room.

With fewer upper cabinets, each piece gets its own moment:

• The main wall cabinet, with reeded glass inserts showing off a curated set of white dinnerware
• A canopy hood over the range
• A custom pantry cabinet in the corner, built right on top of the counter and sized for small appliances and pantry items
• A built-in microwave and white oak floating shelves next to the fridge

Reeded glass doors, pendants over the bar, and brass hardware carry those same details through every corner of the room.

This kitchen came from the client's own taste, and our job was helping bring it to the level she had in mind. We love building spaces that are entirely their own, ones that come straight from a client's imagination.
