Primary Bathroom Remodel with a Freestanding Tub, Burlington VT
This primary bathroom in Burlington, VT hadn't been touched in decades, and the layout showed it.
A dated, oversized corner jetted tub sat unused
A tiny fiberglass shower took up too little of the room
Stepping through the door meant walking straight into a closet
The room had plenty of space all along, it just needed to work better.
We stole a little extra room from the dormer to grow the shower, then tiled it in stacked square taupe tile on the walls and natural stone on the floor. A niche in the back wall gets its own moment in a playful green tile shape. Frameless glass and new plumbing fixtures finish the shower.
The old closet at the entry is gone, and the doorway behind it framed in, so walking in now means stepping straight into the room itself. We opened the wall from the other side instead, building custom cubbies that tuck storage neatly out of the way.
The dated corner tub came out, and in its place, a freestanding soaking tub now sits right under the skylight, catching natural light through every soak.
