Custom Kitchen Remodel, South Burlington, VT

This kitchen in South Burlington, VT, started like a few others we've built, with a dishwasher leak. It's a story we've heard before, so once the damage was repaired, we got straight to the fun part: designing a brand new kitchen for a floor plan with more angles than most.

That layout meant getting creative with cabinetry from every direction. Angled return cabinets and blind corner units capture space that would otherwise go to waste. Drawers went in wherever they made the most sense, all without losing an inch of storage.

Cabico Unique's custom line runs throughout in a full overlay beaded shaker door, finished in a low sheen white lacquer, with natural black walnut on the floating shelves and the hood.

• A farmhouse sink with a matte black faucet anchors the main run of counter.

Off the peninsula, we added a bar area that wraps the corner like it was always part of the plan. A Café beverage fridge, a wine cubby, and a walnut stem holder turn it into a proper spot for hosting, with a Fisher & Paykel dishwasher drawer close by for cleanup.

A GE Café French door wall oven and a five-in-one Advantium speed oven give the kitchen more ways to cook than before, with air fry, convection, and microwave built into one. At the end of the peninsula, a custom bookshelf holds the homeowner's cookbooks. Floating shelves layered around the corners break up the cabinetry with a place to display everything else.

This kitchen doesn't shy away from mixing metals.

• Behind the Viking range, a hand-painted tile mosaic the homeowner fell in love with gets the spotlight, paired with a brass pot filler
• Stacked square tile carries the same tones everywhere else.
• Nickel pendants from Huntington Forge hang over the island, playing against the black fixtures and stainless appliances throughout.

Past the window, the view looks out over the South Burlington overlook, just as beautiful as the kitchen itself.
